Valentine's day in Pretoria was something awesome, something new, something I have never experienced.
WELL-DRESSED COLLEAGUES reminded me of the celebrated day of love. The cleaning, file-organizing lady sitting across from me was my personal favourite with her red with white polka-dot silk top.
THE MYSTERIOUS DATE WITH the city was all I could expect with all the new things I had to get done and the deadline of 13h00. All the wrong things that can happen at a date, also happened to MY date. Some people were late or made me wait. Some people were mean to me. Some people were irritated with me after THEY were the reason I could not get hold of them. In Afrikaans it could be compared to "die klein jakkalsies", that is the small things that negatively influence a relationship.
FLOWERS were seen everywhere on the way to the High Court as delivery guys struggled to find parking space with bunches of red roses or tulips or my personal favourite, mixed flowers. Even one of the women who caused some trouble for me (not delivering a message to the advocate I could not find because he was in court) was the happy receiver of a lovely bunch of red roses AND a white teddiebear with a red tummy. No wonder she was unfocused!
A ROMANTIC NOTE ON MY WINDSCREEN... Some huge bird had a stressful marriage proposal or something, so the stress ended on my windscreen! It was just perfect for my blue Monday - just gave it more depth!
SHOPPING AT THE MALL? No, did not happen. I just had to park there to deliver some documents at some attorneys situated near the mall. I thought about shopping there, though. :) Wishful thinking!
HEART-SHAPED CHOCOLATE - this one is for real. When I arrived at work and fell down in my chair, a very welcome heart-shape chocolate eyed me from my desk. The sender was no secret admirer, but my very adorable boss. She really has all the patience in the world, because she answered all my questions over the phone. Respect growing there!
DINNER FOR TWO was enjoyed by yours truly and her aunt. It was nice, though and made me relax after the difficult day. Working is not for "sissies" (softies), it is for real hard-core people...I'm not quite there, yet.
So, I ask you: Valentine's day? What?!
