This post had to be in English again because my (very real) main character finds herself to be a four-year-old English lady. It is not about yesterday's snow in Pretoria, although I do want to say "Praise the Lord for that sudden beauty-bless!".
After the snow and a piece of cake from Isabella's and after I had done away with some work, I walked into the coldness. The wind did not help, but Little Miss Sunshine did!
As I stepped out of our office door I saw her chatting with the office-next-door's receptionist. I thought that a short greeting, a smile and a nod would do the trick. Little Miss Sunshine had one question for me, though. "Do you know my mommy?" Suddenly it hit me - her mother had to be the friendly lady working at the dental lab in our office block. Same blonde hair, same blue eyes, same friendliness... I replied "I think so. What is your mommy's name?". Sure thing - it was the dentist.
Little Miss Sunshine went on to look at my car keys which has a boomerang key holder. She asked me what it was and I thought that maybe I could teach her something. "It is a boomerang. Boomerangs are from Australia and when you throw it, it comes right back to you", I said. She wanted to know if I was from Australia, but I just told her that a wonderful friend gave it to me as a gift when she came back from a trip to Australia. "I have cousins in Australia!", she replied.
It took only that little conversation to put a big smile on my face. What triggered me most was her little girl confidence that I would know who her mommy was. I could not help to think - when I asked people if they knew my Daddy...would they know right away because I looked just like Him, walked just like Him, touched just like Him?
